How does treatment work?
At the core of the ancient medicine is the philosophy that Qi, or vital energy, flows throughout the body. Qi animates the body and protects it from illness, pain and disease. A person's health is influenced by the quality, quantity and balance of Qi.
To treat any Qi imbalances, fine sterile needles will be inserted at specific acupuncture points along the meridian pathways. The needles will be concentrated on acupuncture points related to specific organs or channels, based on your unique issues and symptoms.
Other related therapies may be included in your treatment plan, such as cupping, Tui Na, Gua Sha or moxibustion. Herbal remedies are another important aspect of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and it is important to understand and follow your acupuncturist's directions in order to get the most benefit from these treatments.

What is my role in the healing process?
Your actions play a key role in your treatment plan. Focusing on your health and committing to a healthy lifestyle are the best steps you can take for your well-being. Together you and your acupuncturist can heal your imbalances and help you achieve harmony and balance.
Even after your symptoms are resolved, acupuncture can assist you in maintaining your health, and possibly prevent future imbalances. The more you incorporate acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine into your life, the more you will learn to nurture your body, mind and spirit.

What about the needles?
Acupuncture needles are very thin, much thinner than the needles used in western medical practice. We use the finest quality stainless steel, pre-sterilized, disposable one-time-use needles. The treatment process calls for these needles to be inserted just beneath the skin’s surface. Sensations vary from person to person with some clients feeling a momentary ache or tingling sensation.
Will insurance cover my appointment?
I am a provider for major insurance companies in the Maryland area. Coverage for care is dependent upon the terms and conditions of your insurance or reimbursement plan. If your insurance has acupuncture coverage I will collect any copay and submit your claim directly to the insurance company. If I am not a provider for your particular insurance company I will provide you with a detailed receipt which you can submit directly to your carrier for reimbursement. If you plan to seek reimbursement for care, I suggest that you discuss this with me prior to treatment.
What is your cancellation policy?
I understand that there may be a change in your schedule that may cause you to need to cancel an appointment. In order to avoid a late fee, please contact me more than 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. In the event I am not notified, there will be a $25 charge for your missed visit.
